Lens Fitting

The LasikNearTM is a lens that is fit on a very diverse selection of corneas.

  1. The best starting point is selecting a base curve that is close to the “median k” reading.
  2. Place the median K lens on the eye, and use the standard steepening and flattening rules to achieve a good fit.
  3. The importance of movement and a fluorescein pattern exhibiting a good alignment pattern, horizontally, are the keys to evaluating a good fit.
  4. Once the proper fit is achieved, perform a distance over-refraction using hand held lenses to determine the power.
  5. Then present the near vision card to determine whether the standard +2.25 add power is sufficient.
  6. Present findings to your Valley Contax consultant to customize the fitting process for your patient.
