Cornea and Contact Lens Residents Celebrate at the 6th Annual Residency Summit
Valley Contax, a custom contact lens manufacturer, in partnership with Contamac, a contact lens materials manufacturer, recently held the company’s sixth annual Residency Summit in Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley. The event was three days long and included scleral lens education and fitting, several exciting dining events and a trip to the Oregon Coast. In total, twenty eight residents were flown in from across the country for learning, socializing and relaxation as a means to celebrate the completion of their residencies. The scleral lens education at the event was led by Roya Habibi OD FAAO and Brooke Harkness OD FAAO and was focused around the Custom Stable scleral lens and included a team photo challenge, best strategies for fitting the lens and practice management strategies. Beyond learning, the dining was top notch and included a dinner reception at Hyatt Place Rooftop Bar on the opening night, followed the next evening by wine tasting, dinner and a tour at King Estate Winery and was capped off with a barbeque party on the final night. Attendees expressed that it was an amazing event and that they were grateful for the opportunity.
Janice Adams, president of Valley Contax said, “We always enjoy hosting our annual Residency Summit, it’s our premier event and the residents are always so enthusiastic and refreshing. This year was no different and it’s very exciting to see the level energy and innovative thinking they bring to fitting custom contact lenses. As a company, we’re committed to helping others reach their best vision possible and this new generation of optometrists are extremely bright and more than capable to do just that. We’re very thankful to be able to support and encourage them as they launch their new careers.”
