| Patient: SC is a 44-year-old female |
| |
Indication
SC is a pseudophakic individual who could not achieve adequate vision through soft
contact lenses. Her glasses prescription revealed hyperopia, with very high amounts of
astigmatism in each eye as well as no accommodative ability. |

History
This patient came to me first in October of 2016 desiring to be fit in multifocal contact
lenses. After several attempts with a few soft multifocal toric lenses, the best vision that
could be obtained OU was 20/60-2 at distance and 20/30 at near. The patient was not
happy with these results and desired better vision at both near and far. I discussed the
option of a scleral multifocal lens and the patient was excited to try this option. |

Outcome
SC was fit successfully in office with a 15.8 Custom Stable Elite lens. From there we
were able to convert those parameters to the Custom Stable Aurora (multifocal) and
order a pair for the patient. The fitting process went well and with a few lens
modifications SC was seeing 20/20 at distance and near OU! The biggest issue during
this fitting process was making the patient comfortable for extended wearing hours.
She complained that the lenses felt very dry to the point she could not wear them for
more than an hour. The lenses were ordered with Hydra-PEG coating and the patient
was started on Restasis BID OU. She is now very happy with the contact lenses and
her vision. She even noted that she is wearing the lenses 12+ hours a day! |

Additional Comments
After successfully being fit in Custom Stable Aurora multifocal lenses, SC said that her
life has been greatly improved. She says that she now sees better than she ever has in
many years in either glasses or soft contacts. She also mentioned how she loves the
convenience of the lenses. She no longer has to worry about bifocal glasses and the
annoyances that come along with them. Overall she was very happy with the fitting
process and she is very glad that she is now a successful contact lens wearer. |
